A puppy followed me home yesterday. I had been out jogging with Fitz-G, and we were about to cross a very busy street. An enormous pit bull approached us, tail wagging. My first instinct was to yell "Get away" and "Shoo!", but after several minutes it was clear that Hepburn (named after the street she was found on) would not be discouraged. So, I tied my head phones to Fitz-G and put Fitz-G's leash around her neck, and lead her gently across the busy street. She had so much energy, and enthusiasm. A true puppy. When we got home I realized she was covered in fleas. So, I gave her a flea bath before I left for work. Hepburn growled at Fitz-G, I feared that I had made a huge mistake. Pit bulls have a way of snapping sometimes, and it is utterly frightening.
Later that day we set up a big bed for Audrey (her nickname) in the laundry room. We are still looking for a home for her. However, I have a feeling that her home will be here.
