The Bike

Yesterday, kind of spur of the moment, I bought a bike and a helmet. I also bought a pint sized helmet for Fitz G, so that she can ride along in the basket. I'm looking forward to a life that only depends slightly on fossil fuel consumption. Instead of the current, totally.

I also had a drink with one of my only straight guy friends. The movie "When Harry met Sally" was spot on when it said that it is rare for men and women to be friends, unless one or the other, or both , are gay. However, our friendship works. The awkward thing is, he keeps sleeping with my friends. I think the highlight of our conversation at the HMS Bounty was a discussion of tit and dick size. We each talked about our own, respectively. It was only awkward for a second though. That is the great thing about friendship, you can say anything. And all is forgiven.

Looking forward to fall! In LA, though, it is more appropriate to say autumn, since none of the trees here actually lose their leaves. I was wondering about that today, how many leaves are on one tree? And how many leaves are in the world?

In other news, the wretched place called the "Humane Society", put Hepburn to sleep. I had asked to be put down as an interested party, but apparently the man doing the check in was inept with computers. When I called yesterday, a woman told me she was very sorry, but that there was just not enough space. This happened a month ago. It makes me even more sad to say, that even if they had called me, as they are supposed to do for interested parties, there would have been little for me to do. I have no space in my apartment for another dog, and my husband doesn't have the time or resources to take care of a large animal. We both feel miserable about this, since Hepburn was such a sweet and well meaning animal. I have already decided to dedicate a large part of my life to animal welfare, and now I am more motivated to do so, sooner. Hepburn and other animals like her do not deserve the fate that they suffer. People need to be educated about how to curb animal populations without just destroying whatever they don't like.

RIP Hepburn. And the 200,000 other pit bulls killed every day by animal shelters.
